A Life in Music

Artistic catharsis as personal growth

Davide Gullotto: A Musical Journey Between Classical and Rock

Music entered Davide Gullotto’s life at a very early age. Born on May 22, 1975, in Cernusco sul Naviglio, he was shaped within the music school founded by his father, Antonio. His artistic path began almost by osmosis—surrounded by instruments, sheet music, and the constant presence of sound from the earliest years.

By the age of five, he had fallen in love with Rossini’s overtures; by nine, he was composing his first piano pieces; and by eleven, he was admitted to the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he studied viola.

“At five, I used to get up early and blast a Rossini tape on our home stereo. My mother would shout at me to turn it down, but I felt like a violin string vibrating with the music.”

The Nineties: Rock Energy and the Call of London

During his teenage years, Davide was struck by the energy of Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Sting, and other Anglo-American rock artists. He soon began writing songs, playing, and singing in his first bands, nurturing the dream of becoming a rock star. Driven by a youthful, visionary, and rebellious impulse, he temporarily set aside his classical studies and set foot in London, the iconic city of international rock and the cradle of legends and musical revolutions.

Back in Milan, he started working in various recording studios, collaborating on numerous pop and instrumental productions while deepening his knowledge of sound engineering. By the mid-1990s, the studio had become his second home, as he fully devoted himself to writing and producing music, both for himself and other artists and record labels.

“I was fifteen when I first heard Don’t Stand So Close to Me by The Police. That chorus kept playing in my head like an obsession, completely consuming my brain… I knew something in my life was shifting.”

The New Millennium: From Stages to Studio Projects

With the arrival of the 2000s, Davide became increasingly active on the live scene, performing on the stages of Milan’s most iconic venues, such as Indian’s Saloon, Legend Club, and Le Scimmie. Between gigs and studio sessions, he gained recognition as a singer-songwriter and took part in several national music festivals, while privately continuing his academic studies at the conservatory.

In 2011, after earning his piano diploma, he founded DaG® (an acronym for Davide Gullotto), a brand that reflects his artistic vision in full. With over 200 published tracks to date, his work spans music education and record production, and includes composition, arranging, teaching, and sound engineering.

"My daily routine? Classical piano in the morning, recording studio in the afternoon, and rock at night. I was flowing through a magical, incredible artistic current.”
